And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said, As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here! And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort;
Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple,
And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
God that made the world and all the things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
